Preface: I feel like most of the women who read my blog tend to be blonde-haired-paler-skinned creatures (you know who you are). You don't have to read this post. You just enjoy your fine blonde hair and keep saying things like, "Gosh, I haven't shaved in 2 weeks, look how bad my legs are." And then pull up your pant leg to reveal small, soft angelic looking hairs. You don't know what it's like to sandpaper someone else's leg off. You just go back to your regular lives.
Now to the post: By the time you're 25 years-old, most women know everything there is to know about hair removal. Most of us have shaved, tweezed, waxed or nair-ed our legs and other areas to (temporary) silky smoothness. So I'm wondering why in all my years of beauty wisdom, no one ever told me about epilators. In fact, when Andrew's cousin mentioned it over Christmas, I thought she was saying a foreign word (she was from Canada...sorry Carmen). Turns out, people actually use these things -- all over the world! An epilator is a small machine with tiny tweezers that pulls out the hair from the root, resulting in weeks of smoother legs. Granted, there is certain pain threshold required to use this product but it really only hurts the first time. After that, the hairs grow back finer and at a less rapid rate. I say all this only because maybe someone out there is tired of shaving everyday. In which case, buy an epilator! I haven't used a razor in over 2 months and I don't think I'll ever go back.
Although they are a bit of an investment, I've had no regrets about my purchase. Especially since I had been buying those really expensive razors that come scented or that vibrate or help you lose weight...or whatever else those razors do. I epilate about 1-2 times a week and I'm definitely hooked. If you don't believe me, check out the additional 900 reviews from other users. I bought the one shown here on Amazon for under $60.
If you are a boy (which I can't think of a single boy/man who reads my blog), or a blonde-haired maiden, please disregard this post. For the others, I just wanted to inform you of this great little product. If you have any questions, let me know. If not...then at least you know what the word means now (in Spanish it's called a depilator...apparently Andrew had heard of it).
P.S. Thanks Carmen.

Never heard of it! And I HATE shaving! Good to know...although my pain threshold is not very high. Hmmm...something to think about. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the info! :)
Hilarious Lyndsey! I had heard of it, and Josh tried to buy one for me the other day, but I was a baby and didn't want the pain. I heard of one other person who used it and LOVED it. Maybe one day I'll grow a pair and use it to get rid of my gorilla hair.
I have a confession to make. I clicked "follow" as soon as I found your blog via facebook. And I'm coming out of the woodwork now for three reasons: 1) To cheer, "Yay, I got a mention," 2) To applaud how you spread the Epilator Gospel (is that heretical?), and 3) To admit that I too have a blog and I think that it is only fair that I invite you to read it. I'd have sent an invite before but I have it annoyingly password protected and thought it might be more of a bother if you weren't logged into Blogger semi-regularly. Also, this may be the most effective way to inundate you with updates about life in the frigid north!
I've enjoyed reading your blog, by the way. You do have such a way with words.
I've been asking people here in the midwest if they know what an epilator is, and no takers! I also want to pass on my thanks to the mysterious and wise cousin Carmen...I hope to someday have enough money to have my very own epilator.
I have never heard of it either! And I've already crossed over to the mighty age of 26. Sounds nice. I'll have to keep my eyes open for one. :)
